High-quality and highly durable, Spokz aluminium scissor brakes have been designed to outperform any current composite brakes on the market.
Ease of use
The brakes have a very easy and efficient press on and flick off function which is suitable for all abilities, even those with limited hand function. They also include a ribbed finish on the brake plate allowing for superior hold in different conditions as well as different tyre pressures.
Will these fit my wheelchair?
The brakes come with standard 19 mm barrel meaning they will fit the majority of brake clamps so you can just swap out your existing brakes for these.
What about maintaining the brakes?
As mentioned, these brakes have been designed to be low maintenance and high quality so there is very little you will need to do. Tightening of the bolts every now and then will make sure they stay performing to the max. Like ourselves, long-term users of other types of scissor brakes will be aware that the weak point is the spring, however, the build quality of these brakes means that this should not happen. Anodised aluminium construction delivers superior strength and durability compared to composite brakes. These brakes provide improved holding performance, even with low tyre pressure or worn tyres. They fit all standard 19mm round tube brake receivers, making them a direct replacement for many clamp-mounted scissor brakes.
Designed with an easy “knock on, knock off” mechanism, they’re ideal for quadriplegic and paraplegic users or anyone with limited hand function. Supplied unbranded to maintain a clean, streamlined look on your chair.

Pair of Scissor BrakesThe parts themselves were great, but I had to split them and attach the brake 'scissor' to the old holders. Once completed, the brakes worked brilliantly.

Great parking breaksHaving installed these wheelchair brakes on my argon 2 active user wheelchair a couple of months ago I found them really good, the moving parts move smoothly and accurately the spring mechanism seems solid and well made, in my opinion they are far better than the brakes that came with the wheelchair so it's a nice upgrade, I will definitely buy them again either to upgrade a new chair or to replace when needed, I am also recommending them to my wheelchair user friends, I bought the red ones to match the red wheelchair and castors and the colour makes my wheelchair look awesome

great, but just not long enoughGreat price, way cheaper than Rippoff GK Only I wish the activation levers where longer. I release them with a tap from the palm of my hands. Only the levers would be much easier, if they where a tad longer

Fantastic upgradeI ordered these after contacting Spokz as unsure if they were a straight swap with what was already fitted to my daughters Kuschall Ultra light. Speedy response which put my mind at ease so I ordered them and they are a fantastic upgrade compared to the originals fitted. Great service and fantastic product so far so would highly recommend.

So far so goodBought these as a change from usual types of lever brakes and wasn't sure about them at ordering stage . But once fitted they seem to work very well , easy to put on and off with one or two fingers and hold chair well in place when on . Good design and nothing to catch your fingers on when using them.

Nice upgrade from original brakesThese were easy to fit and have a nice solid click when used. They don't have as much give as my old brakes so you need to keep your tyres pressures up otherwise they lose their effectiveness. Excellent service from Spokz as always!

Game changer!!I’ve had the plastic scissor brakes on 2 of my wheelchairs Ti-Lite ZRA & Quickie Nitrum which were awful & didn’t hold the wheels at all. They were dangerous & constantly slipped as I got on & off my chair no matter how many times they have been adjusted. I bought these aluminium ones & they are solid. Easy to attach & do not budge. Even my local WCS were so impressed with these that they will be recommending people purchase them

Very Nice!I bought these breaks to replace the rubbish ones on my Quickie Helium. These breaks are very well built, easy to install and has very very nice locking mechanism. I ordered them on the 6th of September and they arrived 2 days later on the 8th, by DHL. I immediately installed them and I’m highly impressed & thankful.

Essential upgrade and almost perfectHad these brakes for a little while now and have to say they are great and would recommend to anyone looking for an upgrade or just fed up with other tuck away brakes not holding or becoming loose and rattling when wheeling along. The build feels solid and study and sure these will last a long time. They hold great and lock with a nice satisfying click. They do have the share some drawbacks as other brakes like this though, you have to keep your tyres pumped correctly or they won't hold and also being fully metal, if your wheels are wet they don't hold as well as when dry. Benefits far outweigh the cons so take the plunge and buy if you can afford to do so!

EXCELLENT BRAKES!These brakes are much better than the composite type. Easy to attach, easy to use and very sturdy. Will be buying another set for my other wheelchair when I can afford them!

What a difference!I had the slimline quickie carbon brakes and to be fair they are pretty useless, I found these and read the reviews and had to give them ago. They arrived within a day or so and fitted straight into my original brackets, the difference is night and day I instantly feel more confident in my chair.

Very good brakesI purchased these brakes as a replacement for my “plastic” scissor brakes. They were send really fast and after receiving them i replaced the brakes immediately and I must say these work better and also look better. It’s a bit of tweaking to get the correct placement, but once that is done you are ready to go. I would say I would buy again, but I don’t new ones for some time as these are metal and therefore have no wear and tear. The part that could wear down which is the spring is replaceable.

Best BrakesCan’t fault these brakes. Replaced the composite brakes with these after one snapped…. Again. Weigh the same but so much sturdier. No rattling either. Lock on and stay on with no flexing. And cheaper to buy. But you can replace the springs if they do become an issue for a few quid. Not she’ll out another £100 for another pair of brakes. First class service too from Spokz

Second to noneI'd had various issues using the standard and widespread composite locks. They were always wearing down, snapping, or coming loose, so decided to give these a shot. So glad I did! The strength and security is immediately apparent, easy to lock and unlock, and the bite on the tyre is exceptional. They really do feel like they're going to last, and for the first time in years I actually feel safe when I'm locking my wheels. For reference, I run a Quickie Helium with a 6° camber and off-road tyres.

New scissor breaks.Fast delivery, never tried these before, but very happy I did, I have had them on for 2 weeks now, theres no slipping, they fit to my Shox tyres great, take a lot of force to move them against the tyre when on, there light wieght due to the attachment tube rather than a solid round bar, easy to push on and off, and a doddle to fit.

Aluminium BrakesOrdered these after having to replace my plastic brake for the second time in a little I’ve a year, much better than. The plastic version, as the plastic bit that breaks renders the brake completely useless….they fit straight onto the clamp from previous plastic scissor brakes.

Perfect BrakeReplaced my plastic scissor brakes which were modified so i could change the spring which brakes every few months but, still flet like they only just worked. The Aluminium Scissor bakes are so much better, perfectly made by somebody who totally understands engineering and work exactly as brakes should. A must have if you are a wheelchair user. Will spec these for my next chair as they should come as standard not the cheap plastic rubbish they fit on expensive wheelchairs. If you have not got these yet buy some, you wont be disappointed.

Great brakes, good upgrade from compositesI wasn't sure whether or not these would fit my RGK Sub 4 but I was reassured by the fact that I could return them if they didn't. They do fit the RGK mounting brackets and, although they are slightly shorter, they work perfectly for me. I might see if I can change the mounting bolts to take a larger allen key, but otherwise they're great. Really effective and well made. Excellent product and the usual excellent service from Spokz.

First Class ProductAfter reading good reviews of these brakes I decided to give them a go. I use them on my 15 year old Cyclone gym chair! It takes a lot of punishment and as I'm lifting and pushing some heavy weights I need to be anchored to the spot. These brakes do a top notch job and keep me in place, even when pulling on the 100kgs. Easy to fit, easy on and off, so couldn't be happier. I'll be buying another set soon to replace the plastic brakes on my everyday chair.

Great product - great customer serviceThese brakes are far superior to the plastic ones, they are awesome, but even better than that was the customer service I had. I emailed and asked about delivery to France, the replies were prompt and helpful, they arrived in just 3 days! This shows the dedication of the staff and knowledge to understand how important the brakes are to a wheelchair user. Best Brakes EverThese brakes are by far the best I have had in the 15 years of being wheelchair dependant as a paraplegic. They are really easy to fit and the marking's on the tube help get the same line up on both sides so it takes.the guess work out.of fixing position. They are also great to look at they don't scream cheep or generic. The ease and softness that they lock on to the wheel is a big thumbs up and the great plus is that you can replace the spring in the unit when they were witch I'm sure will cut down on big payouts for new brakes in the future. Once again spokz great product and awesome service

Great to have metal brakes with separate springFinally, I've joined the movement to getting these Aluminium Scissor Brakes, after my composite ones have broken - they never lasted that long, but were good to use. Great that Spokz is selling these ones which combine the convenience with longevity.
