The patented use of fiber spokes has numerous benefits to the user. Fiber spokes act as a vibration and shock dampener - 25% more absorbent than steel. Spinergy spokes are much lighter than steel spokes - 1/2 the weight. Fiber is much stronger than steel - 3x as strong. Combined with the custom rim and hub, it's the highest performing and most reliable wheel design on the market.

Spinergy wheels will accept any tyre made for wheelchair use. You can use 1-3/8" tyres, 1" tyres, or even mountain bike tyres (1.95" x 26" mtn. bike tyres will fit our 25" (559) wheels).

Keep them clean. Occasionally take your wheels off the chair, remove the axle and wipe the bearings, hub, and axle with a dry rag. The bearings are sealed, so you will not need to grease them. We recommend you inspect your wheels occasionally to make sure spokes are tight, the rim is not damaged and your tire pressure is adequate.

The difference between them is the bearing spacing (distance from outside of one bearing to the outside of the other bearing).

Each wheelchair is different. Some wheelchair manufacturers require different clearance between the chair and the wheels. Spinergy have the option of a "standard" hub with 1.8" bearing spacing, or an "X2" hub with 2.3" bearing spacing.

The standard hub will result in the wheels positioning closer to the chair (too close for some wheelchair designs and the spokes interfere with a part of the chair). The X2 hub will result in the wheel positioning a little further away from the chair allowing for additional clearance. Which one works for you depends on the wheelchair you use and your setup.
